itunes, we all scream for itunes

I’ve just been having a discussion here. Do you remember when itunes first came out for the PC? about a 4MB download, maybe 6. It worked ok, typically, like any mac product for the PC, it was quite slow, but ok, not half as bad as what we have now in itunes 7. Don’t get me wrong, I love itunes, I’d find it difficult to move, which is why I won’t, but bulkiness is a problem with all software.

Since itunes 5 it seems to have bumped up to being a behemoth, about 35MB to 40MB, quite a difference. Ok, it has more in it now, all sorts of goodies, support for the iPhone, Apple TV, weather control. The chances, though, are that I may never have all these products, or even want them.

Plugins, the way forward, small modules you can add, I get an iphone, I install the module, I can install them all, but don’t have to, brilliant. Also, when is itunes going to change its name? I reckon it’s a matter of time seeing as it seems to deal with everything now, movies, downloads, even ringtones, it’s more of a media centre now. How about iMedia?
