After the last post, I decided to have a look at Roller discos from the 80s. I searched on Flickr and my hankering was almost instantly satisfied. You really can’t fake the shots. They look like they were taken in the 80s. You can try and get the style back in modern times, but it would never look quite as real. And who introduced roller blades? That just made the hobby harder! I’ll leave you with my favourites.
For too long we have had mediocre snacks from the 1990s and 2000s. Everyone will be aware by now that Wispa is back. Lovely!

However, nothing quite prepared me this very lunch time, as I popped out with friend and old time colleague Mr. Clive Murray for the weekly Subway, for the discovery we made.

We headed to the local shop and as we reminisced about Wispa being back, the plucky shop owner said “they’ve also brought back the 80s Monster Munch packaging”. We excitedly looked, and there, in all its glory, was the old packaging, almost. Almost is better than nothing! They’re bigger again too!

I then saw this:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/3110135/Monster-Munch-crisps-relaunched.html
and this
http://www.findourmonsters.com/

AWESOME! What’s next? Any guesses?

As I walked to lunch today, I passed a McDonalds. I saw a queue of school kids getting their daily fix and a proud looking school girl walk out with her big mac, or happy meal, or whatever it was.

I have to say, before the rant starts. I’m not going to complain about the state of society today as I can’t really do that till I’m at least 35.

Anyway, I wondered, a lot of kids now get pocket money nowadays, leaving them with free reign on what they need. A bad idea. As a kid, McDonalds was an end of term treat. And if I could have had McDonalds, I would have been there everyday.

So, what happened to school dinners I now wonder? Do kids still have them? But more importantly, has the song gone completely out of the window now? You know the one “schoo-ool dinners schoo-ool dinners, mushy peas, mushy peas, soggy semolina, soggy semolina, I feel sick” etc. Any responses would be gladly received.
